Helpful Tips for Patients with Psoriasis Using CORIODERMIN
- Apply Coriodermin twice a day (every 12 hours) to the affected areas of the skin. After waiting 10 minutes, apply Moisturizing Gel (Gel Hidratante Dérmico) in the same manner. This ensures good absorption of the medication. Wait another 10 minutes before getting dressed.
- If you do not use the moisturizing gel, then apply Coriodermin three times a day, every 8 hours. Additionally, irradiate the affected areas with an infrared lamp (50–250 watts) at a distance of 40 cm from the body, or expose the areas to natural sunlight.
- If psoriasis has affected the scalp, apply Piloactive Lotion (PILOTROFINA) using a cotton pad, gently moistening the scalp from the front toward the back. For best results, wash hair 2–3 times a week with the piloactive shampoo. Do not use other shampoos, hair dyes, bleaches, etc.
- Apply Coriodermin with clean fingertips, forming a thin film without rubbing it in (DO NOT USE COTTON). Coriodermin can be applied to eyelids, lips, genital and anal areas. Then apply the moisturizing gel in the same sequence.
- A daily shower is recommended using the bioactive soap from the same product line.
- Patients should avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight at the beach between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to prevent sunburn.
- Sun exposure is allowed before 11:00 AM and after 5:00 PM, using a high-SPF sunscreen applied to the entire skin surface.
- You may wash your hands, take a shower, or go to bed one hour after applying Coriodermin and the moisturizing gel.
- You may take any other medications during treatment, except for psoralens, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, tar, etc. Corticosteroids (cortisone family) must also be avoided, as they can worsen the condition.
- Avoid using any makeup, powders, foundation, oils, or aromatic oils, as these are incompatible with the therapeutic effects of Coriodermin. For nail psoriasis, do not use nail polish.
- Perfume should be sprayed on clothing, not on the skin.
- If itching is intense, take one antihistamine tablet every 8 hours or as needed.
- At the start of treatment, signs of exacerbation may appear – this is considered normal. Continue treatment until all lesions disappear.
Storage: Coriodermin should be stored at 8–10°C on the refrigerator wall. The moisturizing gel should be stored at room temperature.
- Any type of shaving foam may be used. Women should avoid sulfur-based depilation.
- Patients with underarm lesions may use any type of deodorant, as long as it is applied one hour after Coriodermin and the moisturizing gel.
- Despite correct use of Coriodermin and the moisturizing gel, 30% of patients may develop new lesions or notice an increase in size of existing ones. This is a normal reaction during the early stages of treatment and reflects a temporary response of the body. It will resolve over time. Do not discontinue treatment.
- Treatment with Coriodermin is long-term, up to 2 years. Once the lesions disappear, discontinue use until they reappear. When they return, resume application. With each treatment cycle, patients experience longer periods without lesions, and any new lesions are less intense. Treatment should be continued until complete remission.
